Selection Criteria
Venture West will consider investing in Western Australian ideas and inventions that meet the following criteria:
- The inventor is resident in W. Australia, preferably in the Perth metropolitan area
- The invention is in one of the following areas:-
- Electronics, including: sensors, telemetry, control systems, safety systems.
- Electro mechanical, including: motors, generators, switching systems, automotive.
- Electro optics, including: Solar generators, imaging systems, airborne sensors
- Communications, including: data transmission, compression algorithms, error detection and correction, modulation systems, Software Defined Radio, Antennas.
- Video, including: image processing, stereoscopic imaging, image compression, distribution, image enhancement,
- Media, including: display systems, audio compression, audio processing, Digital Rights Management, security, distribution.
- Medical, including: Environmental monitoring, Fitness for work testing, Heat Stress and Environmental Stress Monitoring, medical electronics.
- Patent rights have not been jeopardized i.e. if a provisional patent is not in place then prior disclosure has been under a non disclosure agreement and the invention has not been publicly disclosed
- The rights to the invention have not already been assigned.
- The concepts behind the invention are scientifically sound.
- The intellectual property that encompasses the invention is unique and potentially patentable.
- There is an identifiable and quantifiable market for the invention.
- Venture West is satisfied that we are able to achieve an acceptable ROI over typically a five year period.
